Slack water meant we were off to the wrecks and it proved to be a wise move, with the first drift producing two fat ling, and then some huge pouting on the second drift along with Whiting and Pollack mixed in.
The third drift saw me hammer into a big squid and Emma looked to be into the same, however to my surprise it turned out to be the biggest Red Gurnard I have ever seen.
It hit the boat scales at 3.4.0lb and after a few quick phone calls it became very apparent that it was a very special fish that later weighed in on the shore at 3.2.3lb
The fish was landed on a WSB bow wave rod and WSB DB30 reel backed with 25lb Whiplash Pro braid with WSB silver shrimps x 2 and baited with fresh Mackerel strip.
We are awaiting full confirmation that this fish has set a New World record !!!
